Here’s your step-by-step guide to organising an online group card and collection with GroupTogether.

Step 1: Sign Up or Log In

Go to the GroupTogether website and navigate to the top right-hand corner – you’ll see a “sign in” button. Click it. No account? No problem. Creating a free GroupTogether account takes less than two minutes – quicker than you can find a parking spot at Westfield. 

Once you’re in, click the navy “start” button. Boom – you’re in! 

Step 2: Tell Us the Details

Before we can make magic happen, we need a target. Is it your colleague’s last day? Your best friend’s milestone birthday? Or maybe someone just deserves a little extra love? Once you hit “start”, we’ll ask for three quick bits of info:

• Whether you’re after a group card/collection or just want to buy eGift Cards from you or your company.
• What you want your group to do – click the drop-down menu to view the options of signing and contributing.
• The occasion – select the drop-down menu to choose from farewells to birthdays, weddings and more. 

All done? Click the turquoise “Next” button and follow the prompts to choose how you want this to go down – you can choose your:

• Card name: This is simply the recipient and the event – something like “Elle’s birthday” or “Andy’s farewell”. Short and sweet is the key! (Of course, you can call it whatever you’d like – we won’t stop you!)
• Message to your group: Tell your team what you need from them – whether it’s your office crew, friends or family, you’ll want to send them a quick message asking them to sign the card and chip in for the gift.
• End date: This is the cut-off point for your team to sign and contribute. A little tip from us: choose the day before you plan to give the card out as we’ll take 3 hours review and approve your collection (stay away fraudsters!).
• Contribution amount: You can either click on “Any Amount” or “Exact Amount” depending on your preference. We find letting people choose their amount can make it easier on varying financial situations, but having an exact amount can also help to reach your goal, particularly if everyone’s on board.
• Let people sign without contributing: You can either switch this on or off – some organisers find it easier to get more signatures when people don’t have to contribute, but for smaller teams you may want to require contributions to sign.
• More options: You can select more options like “collections target” and “automatic reminders” to help you stay on track, along with the option to donate to charity if you’d like – perhaps your recipient is an avid volunteer and donor who would appreciate the gesture.
• Promo code: Yep, you can absolutely use a promo code with us to get a discount, simply type it in the box and away you go.

Now for the fun part!

Step 3: Pick Your Card Design

Now it’s time to get creative and have a bit of fun! GroupTogether offers a range of designs, from cute and casual to professional and sleek. You’ll see on the left side a range of fun designs you can scroll through, you can also select the tags above to refine your choices to your celebration – for instance, birthdays, farewells or any other occasion.

• Pick a design: Choose a card from the left side of your screen that fits the recipient and the occasion – after all, you know them best. (But don’t worry if you don’t, you really can’t go wrong with our creative designs!)
• You can also upload your own images: On the right side of the screen, you’ll notice text at the bottom of the card that reads, “your title here”. Feel free to write in your recipient’s name and celebration. You can also leave it blank – fear not, the text won’t appear in the final design if you don’t write anything.
• Try our fun GIF option: Who doesn’t love GIFs? Anyone living in the year 2025 probably has some favourites, and you can choose from a huge range suit your recipient – from Seinfeld and the Office to Harry Potter, we’ve got something for everyone. 

Pro tip: You can preview the card before sending it out – because nothing changes the vibe like a “Farewell” message on a “Happy Birthday” template, right?

Happy with what you’ve got? Click “Next.” 

Step 4: Preview Your Card

It’s always good to have a double-check of your handy work to make sure everything is good to go. That’s why we have a convenient preview tool to show you what your group will see. Scroll through the arrows to see everything from the design to the signing and contribution prompts. Of course, we’ll send you an email link where you can still make edits so don’t worry if you make a mistake!

Have something you want to change? Click the “edit details” button, it’s the second from the right. Happy with everything? Click “publish and share” in the right-hand corner.

You’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know your card/collection is live and ready to sign and share! Now comes the important part – deciding how you want to share the card to your team. Let’s find out how. 

Step 5: Invite Your Team

You don’t have to take care of it alone – the beauty of GroupTogether’s online group cards is the simplicity of bringing your team together. First, click the turquoise button, “invite group.” 

From there, you’ll have two options:

• Enter your team members’ email addresses, and GroupTogether will take care of sending the invites.
• Copy the shareable link and paste it into a group chat, Slack channel or email.

Now everyone can:

• Write a personal message
• Chip in toward a gift

Think of it like passing around a card – without the hassle of actually doing it! We’ll send out all the emails and prompts to your team so you don’t have to worry about it. How do we contribute? 

If you and your team are contributing to a collection, make sure you clicked the “sign and contribute” button. Now you’ll just need to cross a few t’s and dot a few i’s before you’re ready to go: 

• After you’ve signed the card, you’ll be prompted to pay – type in your amount and then click “continue.”
• You’ll then be asked to add your payment details. 

• Before you go, be sure to check that you’re happy with your message.
• All done? Click “Complete.”
