P&C Appreciation Calendar: 5 Key Dates You Shouldn’t Miss 

Schools run on more than lesson plans and homework – behind the scenes, there’s an army of volunteers organising everything from the end-of-term BBQ to planning birthday celebrations and fundraisers. Yes – we’re talking about the P&C.

Parents and Citizens Associations are the heartbeat of our school communities, helping teachers and students feel supported, along with bringing families together. That’s where a little planning can make a big difference – throughout the school year, there are several key moments designed to recognise the teachers, staff and volunteers who keep schools running.  

If you’re part of a P&C or school community, here are the key appreciation dates worth putting on your calendar.

World Teacher’s Day   

When: 30 October 2026

This is the big one – World Teacher’s Day, which also aligns with Australia’s national Teacher’s Day, is your best chance to thank the major contributors to school life as we know it. It’s a worldwide celebration of the educators who inspire and guide students – and occasionally confiscate phones during class. It’s easy to celebrate with:

Easter
When: April 3 to 6

Easter is the perfect chance to show some appreciation – after all, there’s no shortage of chocolate to shower teachers with. Students may wish to share a group card with their teacher, paint eggs or even hold an easter egg hunt. 

Halloween
When: October 31

Halloween events are often P&C-powered, from trick-or-treats between classrooms to school festivals.
